Who will win the crown? Home growers prepare to compete in Immaculate Seeds Cultivation Classic

Immaculate Seeds, Humboldt Green Events, and Grow Active Solutions are hosting the Immaculate Seeds Cultivation Classic – a live-streamed home grow competition and after-party on Saturday, May 23 at 4:19 p.m. CST with the after-party starting immediately after. With social distancing measures in place, the competition and after-party replace the previously planned Cannifest Expo STL 2020.

Stephen Gieder, Executive Director of Humboldt Green Events, said the purpose of the competition – and after-party – is to bring people together.

“We do this to build the culture,” said Stephen. “We’re really trying to bring the community up, bring people together.”

The competition started on January 15th and entries were closed on February 15th, when Missouri competitors were provided 2 strains of Immaculate Seeds and a bottle of House & Garden Roots Excelurator. Over $10,000 in prizes will be given out to winners- 2 winners will be awarded for those who grew each cultivar the best, with the highest combined THC and terpenes- and then 1 winner for the best all-around. Competitors will provide two samples for judging. Most competitors found the competition through Instagram, one of the fastest-growing platforms for cannabis growing enthusiasts and at GrowActive Solutions located at 3612 Hartford St, St. Louis, Missouri, 63116.

“People are proud of what they’re doing,” Gieder said.

  Both take the same amount of time to flower and are good yielders to help growers familiarize themselves with the genetics – as well as two of Immaculate Seeds’ favorite strains. Those interested in the strains can learn more about them on Instagram @immaculate_seeds

Samples must be provided on or before May 15 and will be tested for THC, and terpenes. The prize for the highest THC and highest terpenes is $1,500 in prizes. The grand prize winner will win the $7,000 grand prize bundle and the title of Immaculate Seeds Cultivation Classic Champion in Missouri.

“Every day is an opportunity to be creative,” Gieder said. “We’re doing what we can and [the virus] is changing the way we’re looking at business by providing event organization challenges- but this where we standout- we aspire to show the cannabis community whats possible with all of our events.”

Though the pandemic set back the originally organized Cannifest Expo STL event that would have hosted the awards, Gieder believes that producing competitions through primarily social media is a new, different opportunity.

The after-party will be streamed LIVE from Arcata Theatre Lounge in Arcata, California, and will include live music by Boa Incarnations, professional dancers from Mahari Dance Collective, and light show, all streamed on YouTube LIVE for anyone to enjoy. Gieder said the after-party will last about two hours and provides an opportunity for rad local artists to showcase their craft. All who attend the awards ceremony LIVE on Instagram will be given the link to the after-party.

“This is exciting for us – we’ve always brought people together – we’re making something positive out of something negative- the show must go on!” Gieder said.
