Over 250 attend legal roundtable
A legal roundtable took place in Columbia on Wednesday, January 29. Hosted by MoCannTrade, the event was attended by over 250 people representing over 80 operating groups.
MoCannTrade organized the one-night, centrally located event putting applicants, stakeholders, investors and the brightest legal minds together in an effort to provide value to their members and contribute to the Missouri industry’s success. The event provided a great atmosphere for licensing and ownership discussions, new partnerships, new investment introductions, general connections and business fellowship in a casual, professional atmosphere.
“By all accounts, this was a hugely successful, valuable and meaningful event for our members and the industry as a whole,” Andrew Mullins, MoCannTrade executive director, said. “The credibility, expertise, and professionalism represented in our panel and discussions was second to none.”
On the panel were Chip Sheppard of Carnahan Evans Cantwell and Brown, Christopher McHugh of Joseph Hollander & Craft, Blake Markus of Carson & Coil, Peter Andreone from Hoban Law Group/Andreone Law, Tom Robbins from Strategic Capitol Consulting, and Dave Smith from SmithPatrick CPA. Armstrong Teasdale Partner Eric Walter moderated the roundtable, asking questions for discussion from ownership and investment to appeal and inspection.
“We all really appreciate all the pro-bono time being contributed to this trade association,” Mitch Meyers, CEO of Beleaf, said. “It is meaningful to the professionalism of the organization and why I think DHSS holds it in such high regard.”
Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Medical Marijuana Division Director Lyndall Fraker spoke at the beginning of the event, going over a recent guidance letter pertaining to group ownership.
“It was an honor to be a part of it. I so appreciate being able to participate in all of the various industry events,” Fraker said. “It is a great way for us to stay connected while learning at the same time. Looking forward to the upcoming months as we help to bring medical marijuana to the patients of Missouri.”
MoCannTrade plans to continue industry programming going into the birth of the industry.
“Many of you have been contributing your time and expertise to the industry for quite some time and we continue to hear from folks either attending our events for the first time or looking in on us from other states that we are doing something rather successfully that has never been done before,” Mullins said. “It’s with your help that we are forming the gold standard for medical cannabis industry and program implementation.”
