MCIA to host one day business seminar

 

In just over two weeks the Missouri Cannabis Industry Association (MCIA) will host their first Springfield Medical Marijuana Business Seminar. The event, scheduled for Saturday, July 27, will take place from 1pm to 7pm at the  University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center in Springfield.

The seminar will cover everything from operations and planning for dispensary, cultivation, and manufacturing facility applicants to federal tax strategies.

Speakers will also discuss compliance, cash management, banking, payment processing, and standard operating procedures.

MCIA says the seminar is packed with information, “No fluff. No sales pitches. You’ll get the straight facts.” MCIA says that speakers will offer “real-life, in-progress, business plans” come to life as presenters discuss their own business development.

Medical Marijuana Division Director, Lyndall Fraker will deliver the keynote highlighting rules and regulations for applicants. 

But several other familiar faces of Missouri’s medical marijuana industry will speak at the event as well.

MCIA Board Chair Dan Viets will moderate and close the seminar, Dr. Paul E. Callicoat, of Sarcoxie Nursery will discuss business growth, the new cannabis market, and lessons learned in developing a vertically integrated, patient-focused cannabis business.

Paul Bocci, Certified Public Account will discuss working within IRS regulation 280E and the effects on cannabis businesses.

Megan Wilson of Wilson Compliance Consulting is scheduled to speak discussing strategies to navigate the Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements, as well as training and quality assurance.

Dr. Lisa Roark of Roark Family Health has become one of the state’s most visible physician advocates and has positioned her practice as one of the most accessible to patients in state, becoming one of the first in Missouri to offer telehealth services for consultations.  Dr. Roark will discuss the role of cannabis in a cutting edge healthcare delivery model.

Desmond Morris II, Founder of The Wholesome Bud Company will discuss the human endocannabinoid system and understanding the effects of cannabis therapy for patients.
