Missouri marijuana legalization approval holds double digit lead days before election

Days ahead of the November 8 election date, polling from Emerson College and The Hill for Missouri Nexstar affiliates; KTVI, WDAF, KOLR, KODE, and KNSF shows a 16-point lead for marijuana legalization proponents.

The poll, conducted between October 26 and October 28 consisted of 1000 very likely voters. 47% of those surveyed said they plan to vote to support Amendment 3, while only 39% planned to vote in opposition of the Amendment.

The measure would legalize adult use marijuana for persons over the age of 21, allowing for purchase of up to 3 ounces of marijuana from legal dispensaries daily.

Additionally, Amendment 3 would allow those age 21 or older to possess, cultivate, and gift marijuana as well.

The Amendment has been lauded as one of the most progressive recreational legalization measures in the country’s history, with automatic expungement for most non-violent marijuana possession crimes, the creation of a new submarket of legal marijuana sales with licenses specifically reserved for disadvantaged applicants, disabled service members, and those directly impacted by the failed war on drugs.

While 14% of poll respondents remain unsure, the demographics breakdown shows that 62% of voters under 50 support legalization.
