Former Rams, Chiefs players added to MOCannBizCon+Expo as Keynote Speakers

The hybrid event will include the former NFL players to discuss cannabis testing in sports

MoCannBizCon+EXPO will return to historic Union Station on August 11th and 12th featuring a significant selection of dynamic speakers. In addition to educational sessions presented by more than fifty (50) high-caliber cannabis experts and professionals, Midwest Cann Expos is pleased to announce the addition of former St. Louis Rams players Mike Jones and Kyle Turley as keynote speakers combining cannabis with professional sports. Keynote sessions throughout the two-day event will cover topics paramount to the cannabis industry and cannabis advocacy, including policy issues related to cannabis testing for Olympic athletes such as Sha’Carri Richardson.

Mike Jones started playing professional football for the Los Angeles Raiders in 1991, eventually finding a home in St. Louis with the Rams, a position that culminated in his game-saving tackle at Super Bowl XXXIV (34). Jones remained in St. Louis after his NFL career coaching football for Hazelwood East and St. Louis University High School. He ultimately made a transition into the healthcare industry by becoming a clinical reference laboratory owner after coaching at the collegiate level for several years.

With his lab ownership background as a healthcare entrepreneur, Jones saw an opportunity in cannabis quality testing for the Missouri medical marijuana industry. He founded Green Hill Labs in 2019 and currently serves as president and CEO. Jones told Greenway magazine, “I see the industry in the Show-Me State having explosive growth, trending ahead of original projections, and providing an excellent product with professional dispensaries – all culminating in helping patients have a great experience. I look forward to seeing how our state will transform around this exciting industry.”

Kyle Turley played professional football for the New Orleans Saints, St. Louis Rams, and Kansas City Chiefs. Since retiring from the NFL in 2007, Turley has suffered from a number of neurological health issues and dealt with severe pain related to his football career and multiple surgeries. He became a cannabis advocate after experiencing significant problems with various pharmaceutical medications used to treat his medical conditions. Turley described the importance of allowing NFL players to use cannabis as medicine in an interview with Freedom Leaf, “If we want to save football, then we’ve got to start looking at solutions, not just count concussions. Cannabis is that potential savior. Seventy percent or more of the players use cannabis in the NFL today, because they know it works. I think the NFL knows it works and they want players to use it. They just hope players won’t have it in their cars or get busted for marijuana.”

In January 2017, Turley announced the launch of Neuro Armour (now Neuro XPF), a THC-free cannabis oil that is rich in cannabidiol (CBD) and various terpenes. He now owns a cannabis dispensary called Shango in Moreno Valley, California and continues to advocate for cannabis medicine.

Jones and Turley will join Tyler Beuerlein, the Chief Revenue Officer of Hypur and a former professional baseball player in the New York Mets’ system, as keynote speakers. Hypur is an electronic payment technology platform created for cannabis businesses and other highly regulated, cash-intensive industries. In his role as Hypur’s CRO, Beuerlein leverages his extensive experience in building brands, managing key relationships, and forging strategic partnerships. He has been at the forefront of Hypur’s expansion efforts for over six years and touches financial institutions, government officials, regulatory bodies, and the cannabis industry. As a result, he possesses an intricate knowledge of the banking and regulatory climate, key industry influencers, industry dynamics, and market history. He has also become a key contact for media outlets, analytics companies, industry consultants, and investment firms searching for reliable, accurate sources of industry information.

Beuerlein’s contacts and relationships in the cannabis industry are unparalleled. As a result of his influential value, he was selected to be Chairman of the National Cannabis Industry Association Banking and Financial Services Committee, as well as an Advisory Board member for the Marijuana Business Daily. He is also a member of the Forbes Business Development Council, frequently publishing articles about the banking and payment environment in the cannabis industry.
